Seems to me that Avid is making the same mistake that cost it massive market share against Final Cut Pro. It's pricing itself out of the low/mid-price market. Now you have to buy separate hardware and software, effectively doubling the price of entry. For those of us with LE systems (in my case 28 systems) it's a significant investment to "crossgrade" at $250/system instead of "upgrade" for $80 like it used to be. This pricing will cause us to review our future with Avid very seriously. We already moved all of our video suites to Final Cut Pro because of pricing on that side.
