There is no long term issue which threatens the viability of recorded music more than this, though most people in our industry have been incredibly slow to acknowledge and accept it. Please support dRD today, and strive to AVOID over-compression every other day... You'll feel better, instantly!

Everyone is TOTALLY missing the real issue. It is NOT what is recorded, it is what the product is LISTENED TO with. If the end product is mp3 on crappy little earbuds, then it really doesn't matter now, does it?!?!

I DON'T mean to say it doesn't matter. Of course it does. But until the end listening experience changes, there will no incentive to produce for that kind of quality. That is the real shame.
