One newbie question: Can the 661 simultaneously record from the built in mic as well as both xlr inputs? I'm a film student. What I'm looking for: 1. high-res 24/96 2. built-in stereo condenser mics for ambient sound recording (including VERY loud urban areas, such as construction zones and repeating gunfire 3. multi-track recording - each mic on it's own channel, exportable as a multichannel, uncompressed format 4. at least 2 xlr inputs (the more the merrier) for my external mics, for capturing dialog and details - HOPEFULLY all on their own channels! Anything out there like this available? Any suggestions? If so, please feel free to email me: cine1980 AT gmail DOT com

I have a suspicion that only class 6 SD cards should be used with the unit. There is no mention of class level for SD cards to be used with unit. A problem apparently revelaed itself after using a class 2 SD card and the audio had clicks after one minute of recording...apparently the card became too slow to process audio after a minute. Anyone have any comments about SD card class requirements? Why didn't the manual mention this? -Tommy Cotter

What class of SD Card is needed to avoid clicks or other glitches in audio quality? Anyone have problems with SD 2 level or SD 4 level, or problems with manufacturer brands of SD cards?

Thank you, not only for this excellent review, but also for those you made of the closest competition. It really helped me find the right piece of equipment, that is, the 661.
