Surprising, especially since the reviewer is a bass player, not to have included the Avalon U5. Pricey, yes, but unexcelled in its form and function.

I'd have much rather seen the Audiopile.net DIs reviewed than the Samson.

Not sure why this reprint from 5/10, but I must concur with the comment of 6/7. The Avalon U5 is a favored unit both on stage and in the studio, something's wrong with a review of direct boxes that doesn't include it. And it's absolutely killer for bass; there are players that use it not only for sending signal to the board but also as a stand-alone front end.

I believe that the devices in the roundup are strictly DI's, and the Avalon isn't in this category: it's a preamp.

Folks, with articles like this spanning 9 page loads, the current page you are viewing should be displayed where the page selection is made. This is a standard feature on almost any other site.
