I had the priveledge of working with Bruce on a few projects. His wealth of knowledge was immense. His generosity in sharing it was never ending. His respect for others with accomplishments that paled in comparison never stopped him from educating and answering any question from anyone about live sound, audio converters and just about anything else you could come up with to ask him. I will truly miss having the ability to e-mail or phone him when I have a question or need an opinion on something audio related. Thanks Bruce. I feel honored to have known you and to have been able to learn from you about live sound issues.

Like so many of us that knew, loved and respected Bruce on many levels from audio innovator to our individual personal relationships, this is a tragic untimely loss. He had a long time interest in many things outside audio, including flying. He talked about wanting to fly his Mooney to Australia, which was a not impossible task, but one that required major planning to orchestrate. This one possible task exemplifies his being out on the edge and his lifetime quest of "thinking outside the box". Thank you Bruce for your inspiration, encouragement and for most of all being a real gentleman.

He was an uncle to me. Outside of being an extraordinary pioneer in the sound engineering industry he was an amazing uncle to us over here in SoCal. I am currently studying to go into Aviation maintenance and he was always glowing with things to talk about with aviation when we hung out. Just last week he wanted to take to a site out by mojave desert to see a bunch of no longer in use airplanes but we put it off to another day. He will be sorely missed, truly one of a kind.

I am a mega Elvis fan, living in Sydney. BJ and I often discussed his time with Elvis and many other aspects of his career. Bruce expressed a lot of interest when I would present pictures of him and Elvis together, or recordings of when Elvis would refer to Bruce from the stage, and even news on his colleages fromthe Elvis days. He took a lot of time to teach me about recording live sound and maintaining old tapes, including the process of baking. I last spoke with Bruce at 10.30pm last Saturday (11.30pm here in Sydney on Sunday) via email. What a great guy. The news still blows my mind. My thoughts go to Terri, the kids and all of his family.

I am very sad to hear what it happened to Bruce. We did work together in the 90's for some years, when he and his wife Betty they started with Apogee company. His knowledge on his job and his generosity are a myth. Still remember when I have been in his house in St. Monica many years ago and he placed on may arms his son Colin, a few months old. Unforgettable. Bye, Bruce, hope we can continue discussing electronics when it will be my turn to go.

I was one of no-doubt many women smitten by Bruce in the early 80's. His charm, genius, good looks, playful spirit & talent were magnetic. I remember his Mooney & have photos with his plane. At least he died doing something he loved.

I never knew Bruce but knew of him since I was just in high school from the Elvis tours. He was a legend back then! To me he was the King of all audio engineers. The best of the best. Just knowing OF him made me a better audio engineer because it made me want to do better, go farther make it more perfect. Get to the venue earlier to test the system more thoroughly. Even though I never knew him, he still had a huge impact on my audio career in a extremely positive way. it's guys like Bruce that make milestones in audio, a guy who will come out with something product wise that is so smart, so perfect and so advanced it changes the whole industry and sets a new bar for all audio, both people and products. This is a huge loss for us all. A sad and tragic death of someone we needed so badly to keep setting the bar higher and higher which makes us all achieve more whether we see it directly or don't have a clue as how his like affected us all - indirectly like me, or to the lucky people who knew him directly. He actually did make the world a better place. I wish I had known him.

I was shocked to read this morning that Bruce had been killed in a plane crash 12 months ago. (I have an old photo of him standing next to his Mooney aircraft at Santa Monica Airport) I’m heading off to the US next week and in the process of trying to reconnect with him before I left, heard the sad news. We go back almost 50yrs. The last time I saw Bruce was at Entech (Entertainment Technology Show) in Sydney many years ago when he was one of the conference speakers. Bruce and I were high school buddies and fellow electronic experimenters that both became involved in Sound. Walter Pearce Sydney, Australia
