Las Vegas, NV (April 9, 2014)—At NAB, Net Insight has been showing the intercontinental sports studio concept it created with Hibernia Networks for remote production during the recent Winter Olympics in Sochi.
The solution’s three key challenges for audio transmission were maintaining synchronization throughout a production chain without sample rate converters; multichannel transport over longer distances; and migration of audio to Ethernet and IP. Net Insight's Nimbra MSR platform was used to support TV and radio production as well as radio transmission, and provided uncompressed transmission using traditional AES/EBU and MADI interfaces.
“Our Nimbra solution enables simple and straightforward integration, while keeping costs and network complexity down,” said Martin Karlsson, vice president product portfolio at Net Insight. “It is also able to coexist with other services in an integrated network, without compromising quality and the high availability of signals that are required for live TV and radio production and distribution.”
“The Nimbra platform Audio solution was a perfect fit with our integrated Managed service products. With the MADI interface we were able to simply support Audio and intercom extensions along with the regular video and data services,” said Wes Hanemayer vice president video products at Hibernia Networks.
