imgAustin, TX (November 14, 2013)—The 5th Annual International Music Festival Conference (IMFCON), a three-day informational conference geared towards professionals in the live music festival industry, will be held from December 8 to 10, 2013 in Austin, TX, with a packed schedule of keynote presentations, panel discussions, breakout sessions and more.

Through collaborative efforts, the IMFCON provides programs that drive innovation, education, and provide a critical understanding of how music festivals play a crucial role in the music industry and foster growth in the arts. With more than 400 attendees and 300 festivals including industry leaders from Burning Man, SXSW, ACL, Lollapalooza, Summerfest, Noise Pop and more, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with other industry leaders to discuss ticketing models for festivals, how to expand audiences and engage in the festival community, learn about sustainability efforts during festivals, key considerations for booking artists, and more.

Keynote addresses will include Arthur Fogel, president of Global Touring and chairman of Global Music at Live Nation, Terry Ellis, co-founder of Chrysalis Music and Shelly Finkel, Head of Acquisitions, SFX Entertainment.

The Event Safety Alliance will hold a panel discussion, titled "The Event Safety Alliance's Continuing Development of Health and Safety Resources for our Industry," on Dec. 8 from 3:15 p.m. to 4 p.m., addressing recent accidents where stages have collapsed during shows, and how these accidents have shaped the industry in terms of safety. Panelists Jim Digby, executive director, event Safety Alliance, Hadden Hippsley, president, Lambda Productions and Scott Carroll, program director, Take1 Insurance, will discuss the ongoing commitment to creating standards for event safety. The panel will be moderated by David VandenHeuvel, senior VP, WDT WeatherOps.

On Dec. 9, the panel discussion 'Logistical Headaches and technical Challenges Leaving Unanswered Questions for Festival Producers' (9:50 a.m.) will feature leading music festival producers, including Hyacinth Belcher, [resident, OnStage Systems; Dede Flemming, co-founder & executive director, The Do Lab and Lightning in a Bottle Festival; Philip Blaine, owner, Philip Blaine Presents; Allen Cook, founder & CEO, TourTech; Robby Black, product manager, Festival Solutions; and Nic Adler, co-founder, Sunset Strip Music Festival, who will address the numerous challenges they face when planning a festival, and how to deal with them.

The conference will also address the growing popularity of Electronic Dance music and how this genre has gone from a niche demand at festivals to mainstream success, with dozens of EDM festivals popping up across the U.S. each year.

Among other sessions are "Tours vs. Festivals--Differences, Similarities (Dec. 9, 2:50 p.m.), which discusses the pros and cons of getting major artists to perform at festivals for less than they would make on their own tour; "Mobile Tips for Events" (Dec. 10, 1:50 p.m.) which shows how to improve your mobile strategies for your festival through mobile apps; and "Unplugged: A Live Music Experience" (Dec. 10, 2:50 p.m.), the closing keynote address by Terry Ellis, co-founder of Chrysalis Records, on the wonder of experience a live music performance and how that impacts the success of an artist's career.
