imgLos Angeles, CA (February 18, 2014)—The Motion Picture Sound Editors honored outstanding achievement in sound editing with its Golden Reel Awards on Sunday, February 16.

The 61 annual MPSE Golden Reel Awards were presented in 22 categories encompassing feature films, television, animation, computer entertainment and student work.

During the ceremony, which was held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, Star Wars creator George Lucas also presented the 2014 MPSE Career Achievement Award to Randy Thom, Director of Sound Design at Skywalker Sound. Thom also took home his sixth Golden Reel, for his work as Co-Supervising Sound Editor/Sound Designer on Epic.

The event also included a special tribute to the late Ray Dolby in recognition of his pioneering work in noise reduction and surround sound.
