imgLos Angeles, CA (January 10, 2013)—Upcoming Academy Awards host Seth McFarland and actress Emma Stone presided over the announcement of this year’s Oscar Nominations this morning. Among the many fields revealed were the two Sound categories—Sound Editing and Sound Mixing. And the nominees are….

Sound Editing
Argo

Erik Aadahl and Ethan Van der Ryn
This is the second Academy Award nomination for Aadahl, and the fifth Academy Award nomination for Van der Ryn, who previously won for King Kong (2005) and The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers (2002).

Django Unchained
Wylie Stateman
This is the sixth Academy Award nomination for Wylie Stateman, who has never won.

Life of Pi
Eugene Gearty and Philip Stockton
Both Gearty and Stockton won in 2011 for Hugo.

Skyfall
Per Hallberg and Karen Baker Landers
This is the fourth Academy Award nomination for Hallberg, who previously won for The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) and Braveheart (1995). Meanwhile, this is the second Academy Award nomination for Baker Landers, who previously won for The Bourne Ultimatum (2007).

Zero Dark Thirty

Paul N.J. Ottosson
This is the fourth Academy Award nomination for Ottosson, who previously won both sound categories for his work on The Hurt Locker (2009)


Sound Mixing
Argo
John Reitz, Gregg Rudloff and Jose Antonio Garcia
This is the fifth Academy Award nomination for Reitz, who won for The Matrix (1999) as well as the fifth Academy Award nomination for Rudloff, who won for The Matrix as well as Glory (1989). This marks Garcia’s first nomination.

Les Misérables
Andy Nelson, Mark Paterson and Simon Hayes
Including his nomination this year for Sound Mixing for Lincoln, this is the eighteenth Academy Award nomination for Nelson, who won in 1998 for Saving Private Ryan. This is the first nomination for both Paterson and Hayes.

Life of Pi
Ron Bartlett, D.M. Hemphill and Drew Kunin
These are the first Academy Award nominations for Bartlett and Kunin, and the eighth nomination for Hemphill, who won previously for The Last Of The Mohicans (1992).

Lincoln
Andy Nelson, Gary Rydstrom and Ronald Judkins
As mentioned before, Nelson is also nominated this year for Les Misérables. This is the seventeenth Academy Award nomination for Rydstrom, who previously won both sound categories for Saving Private Ryan, both for Jurrasic Park (1993), both for Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), and one for Titanic (1997). It’s also the fifth nomination for Judkins, who previously won for Saving Private Ryan and Jurrasic Park.

Skyfall
Scott Millan, Greg P. Russell and Stuart Wilson
This is the sixteenth Academy Award nomination for Greg P. Russell, who has never won. This is the ninth Academy Award nomination for Millan, who previously won for The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), Ray (2006), Gladiator (2000), and Apollo 13 (1995). It is also the second nomination for Stuart Wilson.

Across all the award categories, Lincoln leads the pack with 12 nominations, while each garnering nine noms are Amour, Argo, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Django Unchained, Les Miserables, Life of Pi, Silver Linings Playbook and Zero Dark Thirty. The Academy Awards ceremony will take place at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre on  February 24, airing on ABC.
