Summerlin, NV (July 7, 2016)—Las Vegas-based pro-audio education facility Master Mix Live graduated its latest class in mid-June, having put four students through a 20-week live audio-only program in just 12 weeks, in order to accommodate a student from Finland.
Teaching the group was CEO/instructor Rick Camp, whose concert touring experience includes mixing FOH for Madonna, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Babyface, Brian McKnight, Earth Wind and Fire, and countless others.
During the compressed session, the students got hands-on as they learned digital and analog console signal flow and set up; sound system preparations; acoustics and ear training to strengthen their knowledge of frequencies; cables and connectors; compressor and noise gate techniques; principals of electricity; microphone brands and techniques; advanced front of house and monitor mixing techniques, and more.
During the time, the students also earned their MML Pro Users certificates for studying and mastering Solid State Logic’s L300 and L500 consoles; Avid Venue S6L and Profile consoles; a Midas M32 console, and Waves LV1 console, in all totaling more than 100 hours of hands-on use.
Equipment endorsers for Master Mix Live include Avid, Avalon, Aviom, Sony, Sonnox, Solid State Logic, Waves, Tectonic Audio Labs, ISP Technologies, Midas, DPA microphones, Earthworks and Lewitt microphones.
Since graduating, David Divito and Olli Järveläinen have been hired by VER in Las Vegas and Europe, respectively. Meanwhile, Steffen Orozco and Adam Van Rossum have met with several Las Vegas sound companies.
