Louisville, KY (November 21, 2016)—In 2004, Louisville augmented its downtown district with the creation of 4th Street Live—a two block-long, open air mall beneath a glass roof situated above the roadway. At the center of it sits a performance stage which hosts everything from local performers and festivals. This year saw the facility presenting more national artists, including Montgomery Gentry, Eli Young, Old Dominion and the 2016 edition of the Summerland Tour (Sugar Ray, Everclear, Lit and Sponge). The venue still sported its original PA, and had been leasing a system in recent times to keep up to date with artist riders, but with the expanded concert series, it was decreed that the house PA be updated with a new RCF system.
The system is comprised of 16 HDL50-A, three-way line array cabinets with two 12-inch low frequency, four 6-inch midrange and two 1.4-inch high frequency drivers; coupled with eight SUB9007-AS double 21-inch subwoofers. In all, the system specs out at 64,000-watts but is operated entirely on three 20-amp circuits.
“We knew of the quality and customer service of RCF, and with the introduction of the new HDL50 system, knew we could satisfy both local productions and any national act we schedule to come in,” says 4th Street Live! production manager Dave Moskowitz. Having used it for the summer, says Moskowitz, “Everybody has been 100 percent impressed. And the national acts have acknowledged the system lives up to the sound quality of any other ‘rider friendly’ systems they’ve performed on.”
Managed by The Cordish Companies, a real estate development company based in Baltimore, aside from the main entertainment stage, the 4th Street Live! complex includes more than a dozen restaurants and half-dozen nightclubs in addition to retail stores and fast-food outlets.
