Detroit, MI (January 9, 2017)—Mesanovic Microphones released its Model 2AS ribbon microphone, an active version of the Model 2S stereo ribbon microphone.

Offering “the same unique sonic character” as the Model 2S, promises Mesanovic, the Model 2AS provides high output and phantom powered electronics that work as an impedance buffer; the latter provides no additional gain or coloration to the sound. As a result, the Model 2AS delivers 13 dB more output than the Model 2S, all with reportedly “extremely low” self-noise.

The Model 2AS is built around a  proprietary pure aluminum ribbon motor construction intended to deliver an unusually wide and balanced frequency response (20 Hz – 20 kHz-plus, offers Mesanovic Microphones). It will handle a maximum SPL level of 140 dB.

Handbuilt in Detroit, the Model 2AS is covered by a lifetime parts warranty and a free re-ribboning for the original owner within two years of purchase. Available for $2,499, the microphone ships in a heavy-duty waterproof case with enclosed shock mount, protective pouch and a 30-foot 5-pin XLR female to dual 3-pin XLR male breakout cable.
