Wedemark, Germany (June 18, 2017)—Sennheiser’s MobileConnect offers listeners—students at school, churchgoers, theater patrons and others—the ability to live stream audio via WiFi to their own iOS or Android OS device, providing institutions with means to distribute audio.

The MobileConnect system is comprised of the ConnectStation—a streaming server providing near latency-free multi-channel audio streaming via Wi-Fi. As MobileConnect operates over any existing WiFi infrastructure, it is designed to install and integrate with existing network infrastructure and audio equipment.

In demonstration, MobileConnect is intended to be convenient to users: without the need for extra equipment, individuals can use a choice of smart device and headphones to listen to audio via the MobileConnect app, available free of charge for iOS and Android users via the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Sennheiser’s MobileConnect app provides volume adjustment as well as intuitive speech intelligibility and sound quality parameters, including EQ and compression of high- and low-frequency audio content; these adjustments are done with common touchscreen finger slides. The features were developed in close collaboration between the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology and Sennheiser.
