Stevie Wonder Tour Takes Antelope Along

Stevie Wonder has been touring the U.S. performing his complex 1976 double-album, Songs in the Key of Life album, backed by a horn section, choir, background singers, a 10-piece orchestra and his 11-member band. Mixing the complex show each night is Wonder’s longtime FOH engineer, Danny Leake, overseeing an audio system from Eighth Day Sound that keeps everything clocked together using Antelope Audio.  MORE

Monitor Engineer Ian Newton Passes

by Clive Young. Journeyman monitor engineer Ian Newton died of a heart attack at the age of 52 on December 19, 2014. A winner of Pro Sound News’ Centerstage Award multiple times, Newton worked with many of the biggest names in music over the years, including Tina Turner, Roger Waters, Janet Jackson, Barbra Streisand, Sting, The Police, Madonna, Oasis, Pink and Kate Bush, among many others.  MORE

DPA Captures Rare Kate Bush Shows

Known for her lush, emotional pop music, UK songstress Kate Bush returned to the concert stage for the first time in 35 years this past fall, performing a string of 22 sold-out shows in London's Hammersmith Apollo. Sound reinforcement was supplied by UK audio provider Delta Sound, with Greg Walsh handling sound design and FOH engineering; the late Ian Newton mixing monitors; and engineer Stephen Taylor responsible for processing the singer’s vocals, which were captured via DPA microphones.  MORE

Bands On The Run With Yamaha

This past fall found Canadian county acts The Road Hammers, Doc Walker, and U.S. act Blackjack Billy sharing the bill on the “Bands On The Run” Tour across Canada. Bombay Bicycle Club, Gilmour Rock Dpas

London’s famed Earl’s Court will soon be torn down, and indie rock act Bombay Bicycle Club’s concert there earlier this month was in fact the last show to be held at the venerated venue. Rock legend David Gilmour of Pink Floyd sat in, playing steel lap guitar on the band's song “Rinse Me Down” before rolling through “Wish You Were Here,” backed by Bombay Bicycle Club. All of the performances that night–and during the group’s current world tour–were captured with DPA microphones.  MORE
