Fall Out Boy has been crossing the country with rapper Wiz Khalifa on the Boys of Zummer tour this year, and along for the ride is a sizable audio system from Clair Global (Lititz, PA). Chad Olech, engineering FOH for FOB, has been making the most of the sizable Clair i3 cabinets and CP218 subs PA, as well as a DiGiCo SD5 console, marking his first time on the desk.  MORE

The Grateful Dead Splits

After five decades, the Grateful Dead called it a day earlier this month with its Fare Thee Well mini tour. Along for the final ride was longtime sound provider Pro Media/UltraSound, which built a sizable audio system for the shows. The result was a system complicated enough that the company turned to Gainesville, FL-based Ramtech to design and construct a specialized splitter for the stage input and output system requirements.  MORE

Pulling Back The Curtain On Console R&D

Live mixing desk research and design is usually conducted in secret, but a new workshop just added to the AES 59th International Conference, taking place July 15-17, 2015, at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, will pull back the curtains on the topic of console R&D. Meyer Sound Fares The Grateful Dead Well

This past weekend saw the Grateful Dead close out its career at the 50-year mark with the last three of its final “Fare Thee Well” shows in Chicago. The short mini tour kicked off, however, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA, using a Meyer Sound Leo PA to create a quadraphonic surround setup for the 60,000 fans in attendance each night, and a nearly identical Leo system was used for the Chicago shows as well.  MORE
