Boston (November 12, 2008)–Authors Brian Kehew and Kevin Ryan will be presenting their book, Recording the Beatles, at an author talk in Boston, presented by the Student Chapter of the Audio Engineering Society from the New England Institute of Art, and the Boston Professional Chapter of AES. The free event will take place 6PM, Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at the Boston Public Library’s Main Copley Branch in the Rabb Lecture Hall.
A massive book, Recording The Beatles goes behind the scenes of the band’s sesssions, interviewing former engineers and technicians in an effort to shed new light on those albums. With a detailed look at every piece of studio gear used, full explanations of effects and recording processes and an indie look at how specific songs were recording the book is unusually comprehensive, sporting 540 pages, more than 500 photos and illustrations, and over the top packaging that includes a slipcase designed to resemble an analog tape box from the period. The New York Times noted in a review, “magnificently produced…everything you could possibly want to know about the equipment used at Abbey Road Studios when the Beatles worked there, and…how the group made its classic recordings.”
This event is free and open to the general public.
