Evanston, IL (July 16, 2008)–Christopher Papa, whose background includes 15-plus years of music engineering and production, including projects with BeyoncÈ, Cirque du Soleil and Coca Cola, has launched 5.1 Music Inc., acting as founder and creative director. The company’s first product is a production music library catalog available entirely in 5.1 as well as stereo.
Papa feels providing music both in surround and stereo is a wise and creative business decision for post production houses: “The industry will not only have the flexibility to chose our music when the project only requires stereo, but also have the ability to suggest surround music to a client [internal or external] considering an HD project, giving [them] a leg up in landing the business,” said Papa.
While the film and gaming industries pioneered the implementation of surround, 5.1 Music Inc. launches at a time when television and advertising must also rise to meet growing consumer demand. According to an April ’08 Nielsen report, nearly 27 percent of US households are now wired for HD, while the Consumer Electronics Association predicts consumers will purchase 70 million new HDTV sets in the next two years. In response, 68 national cable networks were already offering High Definition (HD) programming in 2007. 5.1 Music Inc.’s library makes it easy to design audio to match the higher impact of the new HD format.
“All music, whether it be ambient, jazz, hip hop, solo piano, rock or classical, was written in the last year, so nothing is dated; and all the music is available under a variety of licensing options,” said Papa.
5.1 Music Inc. libraries are delivered with both a DVD containing 24-bit/48 kHz mixes in 5.1 surround and an audio CD of stereo mixes.
