Berkeley, CA (October 10, 2008)--Bay Area producer/engineer Adam Muñoz has joined the in-house engineering staff at Fantasy Studios.
Muñoz first arrived in the Bay Area for a job at Brilliant Studios after graduating in 1991 with an Associate's Degree in Recording Arts from Full Sail University. He was then hired at the famed Different Fur Recording Studios as a staff engineer and remained there for 12 years until the owners, Howard Johnston and Susan Skaggs, sold it in 2004. Thereafter, Muñoz continued to produce and engineer projects at every major studio in the Bay Area.
Muñoz has assisted on projects by artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Bobby McFerrin, Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, the Cranberries, Paula Cole, Chris Isaak and George Winston. He has engineered and/or mixed albums by Sixpence None the Richer, Hank Williams III, Bill Frisell, Penelope Houston, Charlie Hunter, Fiji, Matt Nathanson and Victor Krauss/Lyle Lovitt. Muñoz was also an additional engineer on the 2007 Victor Krauus album, II, which earned a Grammy nomination for "Best Engineered Non-Classical Album."
Muñoz enjoys working with local Bay Area artists and has produced and/or engineered projects by Audrye Sessions, Dolorata, Mystic Roots, Blame Sally (with producer Lee Townsend) and Secondhand Seranade, and is currently producing and engineering jazz metal outfit, Lick.
Muñoz states, "I'm really excited to be joining Fantasy Studios as a staff engineer. I've been engineering projects out of Fantasy since 1996 and have always loved coming back. They have amazing rooms, all the gear you could want and, best of all, a great staff that makes you feel like part of the family.
Studio director, Jeffrey Wood, commented, "We are thrilled to have Adam Muñoz join our staff full time. He is known as one of the top mixers in Northern California and brings a great deal of expertise to the team."
