Toronto, Canada (November 10, 2008)–Two-year-old operation, Merging Select, in Lisbon has taken on exclusive Adamson distribution for Portugal.

The deal was negotiated by Adamson’s director of European sales, Andy Weingaertner. The company’s operations focus on sales, technical support and education, aimed for commercial markets of touring, contracting, install and corporate needs.

Merging Select aims to build long-term partnerships with its customers by providing them with a support and assistance program. It includes ongoing services such as technical consulting, sound design, installation services, training and education, optimization and problem solving.

At the time of Merging Select’s conception, director of sales, João Velhinho, had been working with manufacturer’s rep firm Avitel for six years, doing sales and gaining Portuguese market knowledge, representing brands such as L-Acoustics, Turbosound, Lab.gruppen and XTA. Director of technical support, Wladimiro Garrido, came in with over 20 years of experience working in neighboring Spain with such companies as the distributors of Martin Audio (technical/commercial responsibilities), HK Audio (technical support) and with Meyer Sound (as technical manager and performing training). Garrido has also been an independent operator/user of Meyer’s SIM analyzer since 1996. To aid with projects, freelancers are acquired whenever needed.

Merging Select has had Adamson on the radar for a long time. The first contact Garrido had with Adamson was many years ago in Madrid during the 1980s through a rental company called Berenice. That company was working with a MH225/B218 PA System at the time. “This new partnership is an opportunity to work with a brand that is determined to take a leadership position in the marketplace,” he said. “We believe in Adamson’s capacity for constant innovation by their ability to relate and optimize the physical aspects of speaker design in order to define their own technological identity. Adamson understands what the live sound reinforcement is truly about.”

The first Adamson line-array system sold in Portugal was the recent CHS Som e Luz Professional purchase of a mid-sized Y-Axis Y10 and T-21 Sub combo for the national touring market. Merging Select delivered the PA to CHS, having tested all cabinets and their components, assured uniformity in amp racks and processor setups, designed cable distribution, and provided technical support to CHS during its first three shows.

According to Velhinho, the future looks bright with high-quality products at their fingertips: “With Adamson; one hand holds a prestigious and reliable brand; as the other, continuous innovation.”
