Pasadena, CA (March 13, 2006)--Producer/engineer Brian Ahern chose the classic AEA R44 CNEX as his solo mic on the Grammy-winning Emmylou Harris single, "The Connection," recently recorded as the bonus track on The Very Best of Emmylou Harris: Heartaches & Highways LP.

Ahern likens this single mic session to Richard Dodd's 1991 work using an original RCA mic to record. Originally intended for vocal tracks, the AEA R44 CNEX was the only mic set up for the Harris session. Ahern mentioned this to Harris before starting, and she wondered whether or not the ribbon mic would be able to perform. Ahern started the session "and waited for something to sound wrong, but it never did." Although a sundry of different mics were available for use, the R44 CNEX did the job.

The track was recorded in 2005 at Ahern's Nashville Easter Island surround facility.
