New York, NY (December 23, 2005)–The AES-KAREs (Katrina Audio Relief Effort) is still accepting donations via the web portal established during the AES Convention in October.
“Donations have still been received after the Convention efforts were wrapped up,” said Frank Wells, secretary of the Nashville Engineer Relief Fund, the non-profit entity overseeing the disbursement of the funds. “Unfortunately, the need is vast. Even though we’ve seen all the images on TV and in print, what really brings the tragedy home is reading the words of the individuals who have applied for assistance. And to be blunt, while any assistance given will no doubt be appreciated, at the current level of giving, the resources available will fall short of making a major impact on the need.
“The magnitude of the disaster is simply staggering, and though the attention paid has waned, the need has not. We encourage individuals or company’s needing an end-of-year tax break to consider a charitable contribution to AES-KAREs. Helping others is in the best spirit of this holiday season.”
The AES-KAREs effort has been supported by SPARS, NAPRS, MusicCares, and PAMA.
