As it turns out, for a few months now, Blue Microphones has been working behind the scenes with Jimmy Iovine’s team at Interscope Records and Beats by Dre to create a microphone for on-stage use by the contestants of American Idol. Combining Blue’s enCORE 300, the style of Beats by Dre and new digital wireless technology from Line 6, the microphone system was made specifically for this season’s performers.

While the custom-built system is not a commercial product (and one presumes that’s a temporary situation), the standard wired version of Blue’s enCORE 300 is, of course, readily available.
