New York, NY (April 10, 2007)–Kevin Fetterplace, Kevin Joy and Joe Carroll will be presenting seminars to the Manhattan Producer’s Alliance at the one-day “Let’s Get Down to Business” conference scheduled for April 21, from 11am-5pm. This day-long two-part seminar is open to the public, and will cover best practices for publicity and promotion, as well as and tricks of the trade for managing clients in a music production setting.
In Part I of the seminar, music publicist Kevin Fetterplace, of Mojo Working International, will share some of his 15 years experience managing the public relations affairs of some very well known record producers. Fetterplace poses the question: “OK, so you’re the best producer or engineer on your block. You’ve got the gear, the room, the know-how and you’re happily sitting in your techy kingdom making music and noises to your little heart’s content. Now you’ve decided you want to attract clients to help make ends meet. How do you get the word out that you’re talented and willing to share that genius with the wider world?” His seminar will answer this question, providing tips as to what producer/engineers can do to promote themselves.
Part II will see Joy and Carroll make presentations on client management, and as a preview, they offer: “You’ve already proven you can write and produce music for ads, TV or film. Are you ready for Union signatories? How will that temp track effect your indemnity? Do you know your way around prices, terms, contracts, and the rest of the paper trail? What exactly are your clients’ expectations? How do you navigate the creative and management hierarchy? Kevin Joy and Joe Carroll are masters at delivering the goods on A-Level gigs. Whether or not you have an agent representing you, you’ll need to know this material.”
