Stow, OH (December 17, 2008)--Audio-Technica has expanded its SpectraPulse Ultra Wideband (UWB) wireless microphone system with the mtu201 XLR desk stand transmitter.

The mtu201 is optimized to work with any of Audio-Technica's 29 Engineered Sound gooseneck microphones with 3-pin XLRM-type output, targeted for such applications as podiums, boardroom tables and other situations where a gooseneck is preferred over a boundary-type mic.

The mtu201 provides phantom power to the microphone and features a programmable touch-sensitive switch (for push-to-talk, push-to-mute or toggle operation) and 9-hour rechargeable battery life. Said to be a completely new application of UWB technology, SpectraPulse bypasses the increasingly congested RF environment to reportedly deliver clear, intelligible, secure audio without the performance and setup issues associated with conventional wireless systems.
