Northeim, Germany (February 9, 2010)–Gunter Pauler’s Stockfisch Records recently purchased a Studer Vista 5 mixing console for the label’s in-house production facility, Pauler Acoustics.
After the first recording sessions, Pauler remarked, “The aural characteristics of this desk are outstanding; the Vista 5 delivers soft transparency, with a spatial resolution that I have never experienced before on a digital desk. What particularly inspires me is that on every channel there is a parallel compressor, which in its control mode stands comparison with the best-known American analogue compressors.”
Pauler Acoustics use principally AES/EBU and MADI digital interfaces, over which the mic preamp and recording system operate.
Stockfisch has been aimed at audiophile fans of guitar-oriented singer-songwriters and revivalists on its label harking back to the 1970s. Many of the artists include European musicians as well as American expats, with well-known names rubbing shoulders with new discoveries.
Already, within a few weeks of the installation of the Vista 5, which was purchased from German distributors, Audio Pro Heilbronn, the first CD has been released: Paul O’Brien’s Walk Back Home.
