Quincy, IL (March 22, 2007)–Broadcast Electronics (BE) is releasing a new software version for its IDi 20 importer unit that literally puts broadcasters in the driver’s seat of HD Radio multicasting. Version 2.0 enhances the unit’s dashboard-like GUI with bitrate “tachometers,” on-console audio level controls and other ease-of-use features for managing multiple program channels from a single seat.
Dashboard V2.0 also offers significant performance improvements, including robust networking and expanded audio buffer to give BE’s HD Radio importer greater flexibility and reliability in the delivery of multiple HD Radio channels. In addition, the new Dashboard version enables broadcasters to re-allocate channel bitrates on the fly–no need to re-boot importer/exporter pairs when changing audio bitrates, for example.
Dashboard V2.0 coincides with iBiquity’s most recent HD Radio software release and will be provided as a free upgrade to all BE IDi 20 customers.
BE will show the IDi 20 importer with new Dashboard version during the NAB show (booth N7106), along with advanced HD Radio functions such as conditional access (CA) of program content and a real-time electronic program guide (EPG), plus new Messagecasting features for nontraditional revenue and managing syndicated program text.
