Quincy, IL (June 17, 2009)--Broadcast Electronics has been awarded a contract by Korea's Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) to supply HD Radio technology and products for testing and consideration in South Korea.
Two BE HD Radio FXi 60 digital FM transmitters, XPi 10 signal generators, and BE IDi 20 importers will ship this month for testing of the digital radio standard at an ETRI lab this summer. Experimental broadcasts of digital radio through BE's HD Radio technology are expected to follow later in the year.
"BE is honored to be selected as the standard bearer for HD Radio technology in Korea, and we look forward to fulfilling the trust that this country has placed in us to determine the suitability of HD Radio broadcasting there," said Joseph Roark, president and CEO of Broadcast Electronics, manufacturer of radio-only broadcast equipment.
BE HD Radio products, engineering and field support have been the staple of HD Radio testing and adoption in a wide variety of broadcast environments around the world, including France, Thailand, New Zealand, Philippines and Puerto Rico.
"We applaud Korean broadcasters for evaluating HD Radio technology as a digital standard," said Bob Struble, president and CEO of iBiquity Digital Corporation, the developer of HD Radio technology. "HD Radio technology has an established and growing presence in Asia and other parts of the world because of our strong technical partnerships with companies like Broadcast Electronics."
