New York, NY (February 24, 2004)–DVD authoring and production company Blink Digital worked on two nominees and one award winning title at this year’s Oscar and Grammy Awards. Two DVDs authored by the company were recently pitted against one another for a Grammy Award–Legend (Sam Cooke) and Can’t Be Satisfied (Muddy Waters)–while Andrew Jarecki’s documentary Capturing the Friedmans is currently nominated for an Academy Award.
At the Grammy Awards, Legend from Abkco Music & Records won for Best Long Form Music Video, edging out the Wellspring Media release Can’t Be Satisfied. Blink Digital produced, designed and authored both titles. Legend, which includes an MTV television documentary of the same name, is Abkco’s first DVD release. The DVD features never-before-seen performance clips, television appearances, and interviews with such icons as Aretha Franklin, Bobby Womack and Lou Rawls.
Capturing the Friedmans is a strong contender for the Oscar in the Academy’s documentary category. The two disc DVD set, released by HBO Home Video this month, features two hours of supplemental material, including additional interviews, never before seen home movie footage, an audio scrapbook, frequently asked questions, extensive ROM content and more. Blink Digital produced, designed and authored the DVD, with filmakers Andrew Jarecki and Marc Smerling.
