Santa Monica, CA (June 22, 2009)--Blue Man Group drummer Todd Waetzig will perform as part of Trailer Music Live, a first-of-its-kind US concert event on June 27th at The Broad Theatre in Santa Monica, CA.
The concert event, presented by Imperativa Records, will feature the live performance of music that had originally been composed, produced and appeared in more than 2,500 theatrical trailers including those promoting such blockbuster motion picture franchises as Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Spider-Man and many others.
Waetzig has been Blue Man Group's first-call drummer for over a decade. A St. Louis native and Berklee College of Music alumnus, he started his career with Blue Man in Boston. In 2000, he relocated to Las Vegas and was appointed drum and percussion trainer/performer for Blue Man Group's theater shows at Luxor, and later The Venetian hotel and casino. During that time, he has toured extensively with their The Complex Rock Tour and arena-sized How To Be A Megastar world tours.
Waetzig also appears on the Blue Man Group's multi-platinum DVD, The Complex Rock Tour Live, and the recent How To Be A Megastar Live! which debuted at #2 on Billboard's DVD chart. Other notable appearances include multiple performances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, as well as playing for Queen Elizabeth II of England on the 77th Royal Variety Performance television show. Waetzig is also featured on the Robots original motion picture soundtrack playing Blue Man Group's custom-made metal percussion instruments for John Powell's "Robot City."
Trailer Music Live will incorporate video presentations of trailer footage from major motion pictures throughout the evening and will feature more than 100 performers, including singers from The Angeles Chorale, recording artists Immediate and rock band Globus. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the non-profit Angeles Chorale.
