San Francisco, CA (September 6, 2006)--The 121st AES Convention will offer a Platinum Mastering Panel on Saturday, October 7, moderated by Bob Ludwig, from noon to 1:30pm.
Bob Ludwig"Looking back at previous panels it always seems impossible to meet, much less exceed their standards," Convention Committee chair John Strawn said, "but moderator Bob Ludwig has outdone himself. We are most appreciative for his taking time from an incredibly busy schedule to coordinate this highly anticipated event."

Platinum Mastering panelists include Ludwig, the Grammy-winning mastering engineer and president of Gateway Mastering & DVD, (The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, The Police, Nirvana, Rush); Grammy winners Adam Ayan (Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts. Nine Inch Nails, Phish, Faith Hill); Brian "Big Bass" Gardner (50 Cent, Eminem, Blink 182, Christina Aguilera, Madonna, No Doubt, Black Eyed Peas); Darcy Proper (The Eagles, Donald Fagen, Steely Dan, Eric Clapton, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra); and Grammy nominees Stephen Marcussen (Barbra Streisand, The Rolling Stones, REM, Stone Temple Pilots, Paul McCartney, Don Henley); and Herb Powers, Jr. (Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Missy Elliott).

The panel will focus on the rapid "de-evolution" of the record business from the pre-iPod paradigm into one of merged record companies, slashed budgets, vanishing artist development and the rebirth of indie labels and independent artists. Ludwig has assembled an all-star panel of mastering engineers which will discuss their current projects and describe how their jobs have changed in reaction to this industry sea change. A key issue will be the question is high-resolution audio still viable?

The 121st AES Convention will be held in San Francisco's Moscone Center October 5-8, 2006. For a complete schedule of events, visit www.aes.org.
