Winter Park, FL (June 12, 2006)–Last week, Full Sail Real World Education featured a lecture by Buford Jones for students of the school’s Show Production and Touring degree program. During the event, Jones discussed his history, and provided insight to counsel students in the program as they prepare for their careers in the industry.
Currently serving as tour liaison manager for Meyer Sound, Jones has an extensive and impressive range of tour sound mixing credits including work with artists such as David Bowie, George Harrison, Linda Ronstadt, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Faith Hill, James Taylor, Don Henley, Al Jarreau, ZZ Top, Prince and Pat Benatar.
Credits and awards for Jones include but are not limited to achieving Platinum and Gold records for Pink Floyd’s Delicate Sound of Thunder album; Platinum records for Faith Hill’s Take Me As I Am and It Matters to Me albums; serving as the audio mixer for Hill’s 2000 Thanksgiving special on CBS; and a Platinum record for Jackson Browne’s Hold Out album in 1980.
“We are extremely honored to have Meyer Sound and Buford here visiting Full Sail and taking the time to speak with our students,” said Dana Roun, program director for the Show Production and Touring degree. “To have such a legendary sound mixing professional, in addition to a corporate leader in audio engineering here to be a part of the Full Sail experience, is such an exciting opportunity. The students, faculty and staff are all very much looking forward to showing our guests the best that Full Sail has to offer.”
