New York, NY (April 2, 2004)--Last month, Sonic Youth returned to The Magic Shop for the second time, to mix their upcoming Universal Records release with engineer/producer Jim O'Rourke and assistant engineer Juan Garcia. Blonde Redhead also mixed their new release Misery is a Butterfly at The Magic Shop, with producer Guy Picciotto and Garcia assisting.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers stopped by the Magic Shop with Greg Gordon to record a track for their latest "Greatest Hits" release on Warner Brothers with assistant engineer Garcia. And, Norah Jones, joined the crew at The Magic Shop to record a side project with Lee Alexander, Richard Julian, and Tony Scherr, with engineer Jay Newland and assistant Matt Boynton.

T. Bone Burnett also worked at The Magic Shop recently working on tracks for The Lady Killers, with the band Ollabelle and artist Q-Tip. In January, producer Russ Titelman tracked and mixed some new music with artist Chiara Civello for Verve with engineer, Dave O'Donnell and Garcia assisting. Also in January, Gov't Mule was in tracking their new record with engineer Mike Barbiero and assistant engineer Juan Garcia. And, Magic Shop owner Steve Rosenthal produced and mixed the debut DMZ/Sony record for NYC roots rock band Ollabelle, with Garcia and Matt Boynton engineering.

Grammy-winning songwriter (for Norah Jones) Jessie Harris paid another visit to The Magic Shop to track his second record with engineer Terry Manning and producer Tony Scher. And, Dave Sardy returned to The Magic Shop to work on two new projects-- recording and mixing a track with Greg Gordon for The Walkmen's latest release Bows and Arrows, and working, again with Gordon, with the new Australian band Jet.

In the The Blue Room, The Magic Shop's audio restoration suite, Abkco Records has been archiving and restoring their entire Cameo Parkway catalogue. Dischord Records archived their Fugazi catalog in the Blue Room with engineer Chad Clark, and engineers Tom Psipsikas and Boynton worked on restoring many hours of Alan Lomax recordings from Haiti, Italy, Sacred Harp Singing, and more. The Magic Shop is also responsible for archiving and restoring Space, the soundtrack from the Broadway musical created by Andy Warhol and John Phillips.
