Cadac's managing director Bob Thomas shows the ME2 mic preamp mixer.Luton, U.K. (March 31, 2008)--Cadac Electronics has launched its Classic range, marking the company's 40th anniversary. First in the series is the Cadac Classic ME2 2-channel mic preamp mixer, designed as a studio, location and live sound front-end unit. It will be available September 2008.

The ME2 provides two independent audio paths, each with dedicated mic preamp and 4-band fully parametric EQ. Each audio path is fitted with fully balanced inserts, switchable pre- or post-EQ, in addition to balanced auto-compensating analog outputs. An AES-3 output is also provided, enabling direct connection to digital audio workstations, digital mixing consoles or direct digital recording devices. Multiple ME2 units can be bus-linked together to create a small-format, multichannel console, with each audio path equipped with dedicated level/pan controls as well as mute and PFL control, in combination with the Cadac Classic MA2 mix amp that will be available later in 2008.

Cadac's managing director Bob Thomas wanted to mark the company's 40th anniversary with something genuinely different, commenting, "We are constantly being asked to make the Cadac available to a wider audience, and the Cadac Classic range will do that. I've wanted to bring a range like this to market ever since I took over at Cadac 2 1/2 years ago. However, it is only recently, following the end of the hardware development phase of the S-Digital console, that we've been able to move Nick Fletcher, our chief analog designer onto the Cadac Classic project. We will be expanding the series rapidly over the course of the coming months, with the MA2 mix amp already leaving the design phase and plenty of other products ready to follow on. We're not short of projects, there's 40 years' worth of Clive Green designs to bring back to today's musicians, engineers and producers, not to mention all the other ideas that we've got ready to take forward."
