Waverly, IA (July 27, 2006)–The Chandler Limited EMI TG12412 Limiter plug-in for Pro Tools passed its 2,500 download earlier this week. Chandler’s first foray into the software for Pro Tools world, the EMI TG12413 was released last fall at the AES Convention in New York City.
“Before we formally released the plug-in, we sent some copies out to close friends and colleagues for some honest feedback,” said Chandler Limited owner and designer Wade Goeke. “I was pretty nervous what some of these guys would think.”
Goeke did not have to wait long to hear back. Ross Hogarth, already a big fan and user of the Chandler Limited TG-1, TG-2 and LTD-1 hardware, was one of the first people to send feedback. Hogarth reported, “You want vibe, you got vibe. You want smash, you got smash. You want crush, you got crush. You want smooth Beatles-like in your face compression. You got that, too. In a plug-in to get all this is unheard of. The only thing better is the real deal hardware, which I highly recommend, too.”
The plug-in, co-developed by Chandler Limited and Abbey Road for Digidesign Pro Tools systems, features two versions of the famous TG sound. The “1969” version is a re-creation of the classic TG12413 Limiter used in custom EMI and Abbey Road recording and mastering consoles from the late 1960’s through the 1970’s. The “2005” version is a recreation of the Chandler Limited TG1 compressor which was remade from the original design information and circuit board drawings as provided by Abbey Road.
“We are very excited to see such a strong showing of support from the Pro Tools community,” said Chandler Limited owner and designer Wade Goeke. “Our goal was to create a plug-in that was actually true in sound and function to its parent. I believe we’ve made a big step forward with the TG12413.”
The EMI TG12413 plug-in is available for use in Pro Tools HD, LE and Pro Tools M-Powered and compatible Avid systems. A demo version of the plug-in is available for download through Abbey Road’s web site. Additional Pro Tools plug-ins in the EMI series, including the TG12412 Mastering EQ and TG12414 Filter/Presence Plug-ins, are set for release later this year.
