Austin, TX (September 30, 2009)--Cirrus Logic Inc., founded in 1984 to provide integrated circuits for PCs before becoming a leading supplier of signal processing components for audio and energy applications, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this month.
Cirrus Logic is recognized as the pioneer of the fabless model for the semiconductor industry; today, hundreds of semiconductor companies globally have adopted the fabless model. In product innovation, the company is recognized as a designer of the audio converter, which converts analog signals into digital signals and vice versa. Cirrus Logic audio chips can be found inside the latest electronics, housed within respected brands for consumer and professional products worldwide.
Most recently, Cirrus Logic has accelerated its market share in portable audio products with devices for leading manufacturers of media players, smart phones, camcorders and gaming devices. Cirrus Logic is now developing new energy products to reduce energy consumption for consumer applications, such as laptop chargers, appliances and home electronics.

Cirrus Logic moved its headquarters to Austin from the Silicon Valley in 1999. It currently employs nearly 500 people worldwide, including more than 300 in Austin, with operations in Tucson, AZ. The company has sales offices throughout Europe, Japan and Asia.
In 2009, the company was named as one of the "Best Companies to Work for in Texas." Cirrus Logic is an active participant in the Austin community, supporting organizations such as KLRU and Austin City Limits.
