Cleveland, OH (July 31, 2006)–Cleveland Browns Stadium recently got a major audio upgrade from Nashville-based Durrell L.L.C. At the heart of the retro-fit was a new PA from D.A.S., installed in July.
The PA using D.A.S. self-powered Aero line arrays at the Cleveland Browns Stadium. The system is literally based on four custom made large rolling field carts, each one working as a self contained high powered PA using D.A.S. self-powered Aero Line Arrays and dual 18″ subs to enhance extreme low frequency delivery to the lower seats. This provides a total of 16 dual 18″ speaker cabinets with 32 Aero 38A mid/high line array speakers placed in each of four corners at the goal lines.
This field audio delivery system will be used for pre-game practice and warm ups (this system will be turned off for the game, due to NFL restrictions), and will have a second use with speakers directed at the end zone area. The eastern end zone section, home to the famous “Dog Pound” will experience enhanced audio derived from new parabolic microphones designed to pick up the “sound from the line”. This system will deliver the “calls” and “crunches” just like the TV broadcast.
This isn’t the first audio system Durrell has put together for a major sporting facility–other venues it has worked with include the Kansas City Royals (MLB), Kansas City Chiefs (NFL), Tennessee Titans (NFL), Cincinnati Bengals (NFL), Bristol Motor Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Conseco Fieldhouse (NBA), and the Nashville Predators (NHL).
