Lake Forest, CA (May 26, 2006)–Clover Systems has released its AMM-1 analog measurement module to go with its DVX DVD/CD analyzer. This accessory module adds measurement of analog parameters related to pit geometry on all types of DVD and CD discs. Analog measurements are automatic and integrated into the DVX software.
AMM-1 measures minimum, maximum and average values of reflectivity, I11/Itop, I3/Itop, modulation (I14/I14H), resolution (I3/I14) and beta/asymmetry. User settable limits for each parameter allow for a pass/fail judgment in addition to the built-in grading system. Results are displayed and printed as charts, as well as a tabular summary. Operation is completely automatic, enabling operation by novice operators.
DVX with the AMM-1 provides quality measurements that go beyond just measuring error rates, providing advantages such as media and writer qualification–the secret to successful disc duplication is compatibility between the writer and the media. The AMM-1 analog measurements help duplicators identify the best media to use with their writers. Conversely, they can detect failing writers by looking at certain analog parameters.
Another advantage is reliability and interchangeability–the player’s ability to play the disc is wholly dependent on the size and shape of the pits (“pit geometry”). Discs with poor pit geometry will behave erratically, and may play in some drives, but not others.
