D.A.S. Audio’s Variant 18A subwoofer. Miami, FL (November 30, 2007)–D.A.S. Audio has launched its installation line-array series called Variant. The D.A.S. Variant installation arrays are aimed for use in small to mid-sized venues as well as portable applications with use of pole-stand adapters. The line consists of three family members, the Variant 25A, Variant 112A and Variant 18A.
The Variant 25A is designed for use as a multi-box array in small to mid-sized installations, as a fill unit for front and under-balcony fills, or combined with other D.A.S. line-array systems. The lightweight and visually discrete 7.5-degree trapezoidal enclosure incorporates an aluminum and steel frame that is attached to the box and includes the captive rigging hardware needed to join one box to another. The Variant 25A splay angles range from 0 degrees to 10 degrees in increments of 1 degree, allowing a wide range of column curvatures to be accomplished.
The Variant 112A is a two-way, full-range system with 90-degree horizontal and 15-degree vertical dispersion. Available in black or white, the enclosures are constructed with Birch plywood for cabinet rigidity, and the system incorporates fully captive rigging hardware. Compatible with the Variant AX-V25 bumper, the optional AXC-V112 ceiling mount is also available.
The Variant 18A compact subwoofer system is a complement for the Variant 25A, extending the bandwidth of the array to 30 Hz. It utilizes a single 18-inch cone transducer. The 18H loudspeaker incorporates a 4-inch (100 mm) edge-wound flat wire (EFW) voice coil and cooling scheme.
