Hollywood, CA (December 8, 2004)–Leading music design company DeepMix just contributed to a dynamic Budweiser spot for client Anheuser-Busch. Working with ad agency DDB Chicago, DeepMix presented and secured the licensing for “Steppin’ Out” by Kaskade for the project. The track is an upbeat acoustical dance mix, which complements the visually driven spot about how various people enjoy Budweiser.
For DeepMix, the spot was a welcomed opportunity to collaborate with ad agency DDB Chicago again. The two had previously worked on three spots together; one spot, “True Refreshment” for Budweiser won a Gold Addy for Best Original Music with Lyrics. Dave Curtin, DeepMix Music Supervisor on the project, says the agency sent the storyboards and requested a selection of music for review.
“American Journey” opens on a close-up of Budweiser bottle spraying as its cap is popped open. The view segues to bottles of the beer raining down from the sky and into the hands of people in various situations.
“Taking the visual and conceptual elements into consideration, we submitted 40 tracks to the agency and ‘Steppin’ Out’ by Kaskade was one of our top picks,” explained Curtin. “We felt the track fit well into the spot since it had an organic and contemporary feel, as well as global appeal. Also, we had a strong relationship with the record label and artist so we knew we could work out a deal that would fall within the agency’s budget.”
Concluded Curtin, “This was a win-win situation for everyone involved. The agency did a fantastic job with the creative and Motion Theory created extraordinary graphics. This spot will be great exposure for Kaskade and OM Records. We’re pleased to be part of such an exciting project.”
