Zurich, Switzerland (November 5, 2009)– Puccini’s La Bohème was recently performed live on Swiss television, staged at a high rise and adjacent shopping center in Bern. The complex production saw the first use of a new oratis commentary system by Delec.
The various scenes, shot in different locations, only came together as a coherent whole for the TV audience, which heard a complex audio mix of the orchestra at the shopping center and the soloists at the various scenes.
tv productioncenter Zurich ag (tpc) tackled the production, and used the oratis system to interpret the multilingual commentary into German and French. An independent oratis commentary system was used for each language. Of the six commentator terminals available on each system, three and five respectively were used by the interpreters.
Alfio Di Fazio, audio project manager at tpc and in charge of planning the technical side of the interpretation environment in Zurich noted, “Regarding the audio quality, the new oratis commentary systems kept the promises Delec had made in the run-up. Both of them passed their initial live tests very positively.”
The two systems will shortly become parts of fixed installations in large tpc OB vehicles. They will then be used mostly at sports events. During the coming months, three more trucks will be furnished with the systems.
