Paris, France (September 11, 2006)--Dalet Digital Media Systems announced that Deutsche Welle (DW) has selected Dalet OpenMedia and Dalet OpenMedia OnAir plug-in to equip its broadcast newsroom. The Dalet OpenMedia platform will provide planning, scheduling and playout capabilities for DW television, radio and Internet operations.

The integrated OnAir automation extension will streamline workflow between newsroom and gallery operations. This massive installation seeds over 1000 workstations across Berlin and Bonn sites. It will be used to produce TV and Radio programs in 28 languages.

Longtime Dalet business partner, Thum und Mahr, who is the prime contractor for this Deutsche Welle project, will work closely with Dalet on the overall system design and deployment.

"Deutsche Welle is a perfect example of the Dalet OpenMedia capabilities to equip and integrate a complex broadcast environment to their exact requirements," said Michael Schueller, general manager, Dalet. "Combine this with the expertise of Thum and Mahr--whose long-term experience with Deutsche Welle and Dalet dates back over a decade--and you have an unbeatable solution designed and deployed by industry veterans."

"We understand Deutscshe Welle workflows," said Hanno Mahr, president of Thum and Mahr. "Our success with implementing Dalet audio solutions at Deutscshe Welle and extensive experience with Dalet OpenMedia system integration at broadcast sites such as ARD makes us the perfect choice to be prime contractor for this sizeable installation."

The first tri-media system to be delivered in Germany, the Dalet solution will offer flexible newsroom workflows that incorporate existing processes and legacy systems as well as offer new and more effective approaches for content development broadcast. The OpenMedia newsroom and OnAir extensions that control Omneon servers will cover the complete workflow--from planning to broadcast.

The Deutsche Welle deal also represents a first deployment for the new Dalet OpenMedia Extensions. The flexible solution allows Deutsche Welle to manage playout of assets residing in production, playout, and archiving workflows. The entire Dalet solution operates using one common database, operating system, and user-friendly interface.
