Tewksbury, MA (May 5, 2006)--Digidesign has hit a milestone sales figure for its ICONic digital control surfaces. The ICON|D-Control and ICON|D-Command digital consoles--combining the Pro Tools platform with the D-ControlT tactile work surface--have surpassed 1,000 units in sales worldwide since they began shipping in January 2006. The 1000th unit was sold to Disney for use on the hit show, Lost.

The decision to switch over to the ICON system was the decision of Gil Gagnon, vice president of post production services for Walt Disney Pictures and TV. "Choosing an ICON was the right decision for us. In fact, we chose two. We're currently upgrading two of our stages with ICON consoles as the right tool for the demands of those particular stages. We have had tremendous success with our Pro Control stage over the last 5 years and this will only further compliment the variety of solutions we can offer our clients."

Other high-profile ICON users include veteran studio engineer George Massenburg (who made it the centerpiece of his Blackbird Studio C in Nashville), Academy Award-winning sound re-recording mixer, Greg Watkins and renowned mixing engineer, Steve Hodges (Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige). Other recent ICON installs include Ascent Media, Dubbing Brothers, Microsoft Studios, Post Logic, Resonate, Universal Studios, among many others.

"The introduction of Digidesign's ICON series of consoles in 2005," said Rich Nevens, ICON sales manager, "gave many of the established players in the large-format digital console arena a run for their money. We're seeing ICON being designed into high-profile studios and facilities around the globe. Disney's purchase, was a substantial one included a dual-operator 48-fader D-Control, a dual operator 48 fader D-Command and a 24-fader single operator D-Command. The big D-Control will be used on the hit TV show Lost.
