Atlanta, GA (January 19, 2006)–Doppler Studios has upgraded its facilities with a DAW conversion, purchasing seven Pro Tools systems through Atlanta Pro Audio, to bring the company total to nine rigs.
Seven of the Pro Tools systems are PC-based HD2 Accel systems (with 192 converters and Sync I/Os), used primarily as post-production machines for commercial audio and video applications. Studios F and G are equipped for 5.1 and Dolby Pro Logic surround mixing. Studios A and E are also furnished with Dual G5 Mac HD2 Accel systems intended for music sessions. Each utilizes three 192 interfaces plus sync I/O to allow 24 analog ins and 32 or 48 analog outs for A or E, respectively.
In sessions news, the past few months have been steadily busy at Doppler, with a variety of ongoing clients continuing to return to the Atlanta facility. BBDO Atlanta’s flagship Cingular Wireless account brought sessions to engineer Steve Schwartzberg, and the agency also produced radio for Randstad and ING. Cartoon Network’s new Adult Swim series Squidbillies has been bringing episodes into Studio G for sound design and surround mixing by Shawn Coleman. The network’s new preschool block, Tickle U, has had sound design sessions at Doppler for its various packaging elements, with engineer Ryan Almario.
Notable recent ADR sessions include NBC’s Surface; Avatar for Nickelodeon; Rumble, with actress Ciara; and Snow Wonder, a TV movie for SmartSound. Former Atlanta resident Gary Anthony Williams came in to record VO for his Boondocks character, Uncle Ruckus, in Studio A with engineer John St. Denis. And, Brand Atlanta and Grey Worldwide booked Studio E and Granger Beem to work with producer Dallas Austin, recording Atlanta Symphony Orchestra players for their campaign song “The ATL,” for use in a new City of Atlanta branding campaign.
