Hopatcong, NJ (January 31, 2006)--Scott Barber and Mark Salamone, founders of online music service DreamMakersMP3.com and the Barber Shop Studios, have launched the "Dare to Dream" contest, open to independent artists featured on DreamMakersMP3.com.

A resource for independent musicians, DreamMakersMP3.com's biannual "Dare to Dream" contest will present an award for the grand prizewinner, including sessions at Barber Shop with an established producer. The grand prize may range in value from $25,000 to $100,000, depending on the number of artists in the winning band. Travel and accommodations are included.

"The 'Dare to Dream' contest is only the beginning of substantial opportunities for independent artists featured on DreamMakersMP3.com," Barber stated. "We have put together a group of investors who are interested in providing financial backing for artists generating significant interest on the site. These investors will select successful artists on DreamMakersMP3.com and handle their recording expenses at the Barber Shop in exchange for a percentage of future revenues. The time is ripe for an innovative approach to move the music industry forward and we are introducing a concept that will greatly benefit independent artists by shifting the balance of power in their direction."

Bands and solo artists can join DreamMakersMP3.com for free. By uploading music, photos and information including bios and performance listings, they are exposed to a listening audience that is, according to its founders, growing daily.

DreamMakersMP3.com's panel of eight music producers, along with Barber and Salamone, will select promising artists based on criteria including the quality of the music as well as the quantity of streams and downloads each artist receives. The panel--Tony Black (Alicia Keys, Jay-Z), Jason Corsaro (Soundgarden, Peter Gabriel), Mark Eddinger (Jefferson Airplane, Journey), Ben Elliott (Keith Richards, Eric Clapton), Tony Fortuna (Sunshine in Hell, Idle Worship), Jeff Lane (Shirley Caesar, Wilson Pickett), Carl Nappa (Mariah Carey, Nelly) and Shelly Yakus (John Lennon, Van Morrison)--will then recommend a grand prizewinner.

DreamMakersMP3.com has already produced results for two bands featured on the site, serving as a template for the "Dare to Dream" contest. Two bands receiving a lot of attention on the site--New York rock band Transfusion M and Louisville, KY-based Never The Man--have been paired with DreamMakersMP3.com producers for sessions at the Barber Shop, and have reported growth in their audience.
