New York, NY (January 9, 2006)–Fairlight has sold four DREAM Constellation XT consoles to Penny Lane Studios, a NYC facility that specializes in original music, sound design, and mixing for television and commercials. The DREAM platform will serve as the foundation of all audio post-production at Penny Lane and will be the largest Constellation XT installation in the East Coast.
“We selected the Fairlight platform when we opened in 2000 because it was simply the fastest system around with all the bells and whistles,” said Bobby Sorrentino, founder and president of Penny Lane. The faster we work the more jobs we can do. In addition, our clients benefit from a faster timetable for every project. We look forward to ushering in a new era at Penny Lane with the DREAM platform.”
New York-based Penny Lane Studios opened its doors in 2000, quickly gaining a reputation for speed, efficiency and creativity. Its talented staff is uniquely qualified as both sound engineers and composers. Penny Lane lists among its clients several leading global advertising agencies and cable giants, including Saatchi and Saatchi, BBDO, McCann Erickson, HBO, Comedy Central, MTV, 20th Century Fox and Universal Pictures.
The four Constellation XT consoles will replace existing FAME and Prodigy units. All four audio suites at Penny Lane will operate with Fairlight’s Pyxis NLV systems and network together via Fairlight MediaHub networking strategy, enabling jobs to move freely from room to room and alleviating scheduling conflicts.
“The DREAM Constellation XT is like driving a very expensive sports car compared to other editing platforms stuck in first gear,” said Joe Miuccio, mixer, sound designer and composer at Penny Lane. “Its speed makes for a very smooth post-production session and its functionality never lets you down. If a client wants to try different things, the Fairlight lets me give them every option almost before they’ve asked for it. The Binnacle editor and the surface lay out are both very smart and intuitive. Fairlight truly understands the needs of the user and builds the control surface to match them.”
Constellation-XT provides large format console operation and is powered by a 240-channel, 72 Buss QDC engine, allowing for surround sound mixing up to 7.1. Integrated hard disk recording and editing together with highly evolved software tools for workflow management provide the fastest, most efficient and productive post-production system available today.
