New York (April 28, 2010)—Legendary producer/engineer Eddie Kramer recently participated in the ongoing Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp series, recording vocalists on an ADK Area 51 mic.
Kramer, known for his work with Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin, reported, “I have been using the ADK model TT Tube Mic on the most recent sessions for the “Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp” at both Capitol Studios and East West Studios with a wide variety of Vocal Talent, from Male Rock Screamers to Powerful Four-Octave Range Female Singers.
Explaining the choice of using a current microphone, given the deep lockers of vintage mics at both studios, he explained, “There was a remarkable consistency and predictability in the way the mic responded. I always know that what ever I threw at it, I would get a satisfying result. The top-end had a nice crispness to it without ever sounding unnatural.”
