Chicago, IL (June 9, 2005)–Over the past 6 years, Engine Recording Studios has been the site of many high-profile indie rock recordings, such as Modest Mouse, Iron and Wine, Wilco, Alkaline Trio, and Holopaw. Just in the past few months, a variety of noteworthy up-and-comers–such as Josh Ritter, The Safes, The Winter Blanket, and The You–have checked into Engine to work on upcoming releases.
Owned and operated by producer/engineers Jep Thornton, John Humphrey and Brian Deck, Engine Studios is a commercial facility very often used as the owner/operators’ workshop. Equipped with Pro Tools HD, Engine’s Studio A houses an SSL 4056 console and Studio B has a large tracking space and a vintage Trident 80B console. Deck recently mixed the latest Josh Ritter album for V2 records and produced an album for Chicago band The Safes, tracked and mixed by Engine staff producer/engineer Colin Studybaker.
Deck and Studybaker also teamed up to work with Minneapolis band The Winter Blanket at Engine, with Studybaker tracking and mixing and Deck producing. Another staff producer/engineer Balthazar DeLey recently produced, tracked and mixed an album for the LAD Theory, who hail from Denver. Most recently, Studybaker and De Ley handled tracking and mixing for another Deck production, and album for Pittsburgh’s The You.
