Palo Alto, CA (May 14, 2008)--Chinese broadcaster CCTV used a Euphonix System 5-B for the live broadcast of the Olympic torch reaching the summit of Mount Everest. CCTV has 10 Euphonix mixing systems installed for on-air, HDTV and OB productions.

CCTV carried a live broadcast of the historic scaling of Mount Everest by a team of climbers carrying the Olympic torch. Clearly heard panting for breath during the broadcast, the five torchbearers passed the flame to team captain, Nyima Cering, who proclaimed, "One world, one dream," the 2008 Olympic slogan.

With 16 different channels of programming, CCTV is mainland China's major television broadcaster. As one of only six Chinese broadcast companies to be selected to publicly broadcast the Beijing Olympics, CCTV has been eagerly preparing for the upcoming Olympic Games.

"Here at Euphonix we take great pride in being a major supplier of audio consoles to CCTV since 1992 and we couldn't be more proud to be involved in this live broadcast from the peak of Mount Everest," said Russell Waite, executive vice president of sales and product marketing.
