Las Vegas, NV (April 22, 2005)–Euphonix has designed a fully integrated audio recording, editing and mixing control surface that directly interfaces with top workstations via high speed EuCon and HUI control protocols. The System 5-MC control surface can be fitted with 8 to 48 channel strips, each with 8 knobs per strip, moving fader and TFT screen, and comes with the MC Intelligent Application Controller for master console functions and integral control of the DAW.
The MC can also control other software applications running on the workstation through keyboard commands mapped to the 56 SmartSwitches. Also included is Euphonix’s Studio Monitor Pro software which provides full monitor matrix capability controlled from the monitor section of the MC. System 5-MC is a very cost-effective solution as all recording, editing and mixing processing is handled by the DAW.
Euphonix’s VP technology, Martin Kloiber, stated, “What makes the System 5-MC stand out from other controllers is its ability to interface to multiple DAWs, and DAWs from different manufacturers. We have adopted an open architecture approach which we believe will result in cost savings and offer more options to the client.”
The System 5-MC includes high-speed network control capabilities utilizing the EuCon control protocol. Steinberg’s Nuendo and Merging’s Pyramix (via Merging’s OASIS protocol) are the first two DAW applications that support EuCon allowing intelligent high-speed control of all DAW functions from the control surface as well as support for multiple DAWs from a single surface. DAWs such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro and Digital Performer can be controlled using the HUI protocol. System 5-MC works with both PC and Mac based DAWs. The System 5-MC starts shipping in June 2005.
