New York (April 4, 2007)--NYC's famed "Fashion Week" festivities went on tour this year. One stop on the journey was Houston, TX, where "FashionWeekLive" touched down; the city's LD Systems deployed its the Electro-Voice XLD compact line array for FashionWeekLive.
LD Systems lead systems tech Matt Sterling and freelance A1 Engineer Garth Hemphill spec'd four overhead hangs of four deep XLD boxes, along with eight Xsubs placed under the stadium style seating in the enormous tent erected to house the show. "Obviously in a large temporary tent like this, weight is a critical issue," said Robert Ausmus, director of Production Services, LD Systems, "and you have the various contractors vying for their share of weight-requirements and fly space. The XLD fell comfortably into the required weight and space category, while delivering more than enough SPL horsepower for 1,800 people."
"It's really amazing to hear something as small as the XLD do what it does," Ausmus added. "We had great results with the XLD on a few gigs with both Los Lonely Boys and Martina McBride-so much so that we doubled our XLD inventory this year-and it's proven equally impressive for spoken word, corporate and higher SPL country and rock gigs. And, of course, XLD has the vocal warmth and musicality we like so much in its big brothers the XLC and X-Line. We're equally impressed with them all."
