Minneapolis, MN (March 25, 2004)–For the second year running, Minneapolis-based advertising agency FAME has called upon the talents of Fischer Edit and Modern Music to deliver the fast-paced action of the racetrack in two new spots for Target. With editing, compositing and 3D effects provided by Fischer Edit, Modern Music completed commercial music and sound design.
“When the situation arises for the right project, we enjoy the opportunity for our sister companies to work together to provide editorial, effects, music and sound design,” said Tony Fischer, owner/executive producer of Fischer Edit and Modern Music. “For a second year, this project is a shining example of what each company can offer individually and collaboratively.”
Fischer Edit’s Tim Taylor and Mark Youngren, and Modern Music’s Rick Meyer and Daron Walker, who had already written the music track, were called on to provide input into the pre-production process with ad agency FAME and director EJ Forester of Partizan.
“This was an incredibly inclusive process,” explained Taylor. “The agency team and the director were extremely responsive to our ideas from the very start. As we polished and improved the spot we worked closely with Rick and Daron at Modern Music to enhance the music to reflect those changes.”
The rock-driven sound track was a departure from Meyer and Walker’s techno-driven sound of the previous Target Race spots. “Last year, we created a more realistic sound design with the sounds of the engines,” commented Meyer. “This year, we decided to create a surreal environment and use a rock-n-roll track. We actually presented music to Target before the storyboards were completed. Once Tim and Mark really got into their process after the shoot, we were all collaborating together, making changes on the fly.”
